Introduction of Textile Dyeing and Wet Processing:

Before learn to dyeing, we need to familiar with Wet Processing. Because dyeing is a part of
wet processing. In wet process, textile products (Fibre/Yarn/Fabric) have been soak in water along with various chemicals to carry out various activities. Wet processing is also called textile chemistry.

Different Branches of Wet Processing:

  1. Pre-Treatment
  2. Dyeing
  3. Printing
  4. Washing

1. Pre-Treatment:

Pre-Treatment is the primary process before dyeing and printing. Pre-Treatment includes the following – 

    • De-Sizing
    • Scouring
    • Bleaching
    • Enzyming
    • Mercirizing

2. Dyeing:

The word dyeing comes from Dye/Dyes which means colourant substance. In dyeing process, fibre, yarn and fabrics are dyed/coloured by soaking in a solution prepared with water, chemicals and dyes.

In another ways dyeing can be defined. Such as – by which process the physical and chemical characteristics of a substance/matter is changed and for this chance the substance/matter looks colourful while the light is reflected on it and transmit to our eyes.

Or another way, the physical and chemical process of colouring fibre, yarn or fabric by soaking a dye solution is called dyeing.

 

Textile products can be dyed in three ways – 

  • Fibre Dyeing
  • Yarn Dyeing
  • Fabric Dyeing

Fibre Dyeing:

Fibre dyeing is occasionally carried. In particular situation only this kind of dyeing is practiced. For example – for producing Grey Melange Fabric yarn. This yarn is manufactured with dyed fibre. In this case, the Viscose part is fibre dyed.

Yarn Dyeing:

Yarn dyeing is using from many ages before. Yarn is dyed in yarn dyeing factory. This dyed yarn is used in Weaving process for manufacturing check and stripe fabric. Also, in knitting process for manufacturing colour stripes fabric dyed yarn is used.

 

Yarn dyeing can be performed in two ways – 

  1. Hank Form
  2. Package Form

Hank form:

In this process hanks, those come from spinning in 840 yards each, are dyed in soaking dye solution. These dyed hanks are mostly used in weaving.

Package Form:

When Yarn is dyed in Cheese, Pirm, Cone, Beam etc condition is called Package Dyeing. Pores present in the packages to enter the dye solution in yarn which are intertwined on these packages. For package dyeing has a special machine. Packages are arranged in the machine for dyeing. Generally for yarn are dyed in cone form.

Fabric Dyeing:

Fabric dyeing is most popular ways now a days. Fabric might come from either Knitting or Weaving. But the dyeing process of Knitted Fabric and Woven Fabric is different.

Difference between Knit Dyeing and Woven Dyeing

The fabric comes from knitting is used to dye in Knit Dyeing Process.

The fabric comes from weaving is used to dye in Woven Dyeing Process.

Knit dyeing program is brief than woven dyeing process.

Woven dyeing process has more steps and Knit dyeing process.

Same machine is used for Pre-Treatment and Dyeing.

Different machine is used for Pre-treatment and Dyeing.

Less cost since more processes are carried on same machine. Therefore, it requires less Man-power and Machine.

More Expensive since different processes need different machine. Therefore, it requires more Man-power and Machine.

Since the demand of knit garments is high in worldwide, the number of knit dyeing factory is more.

Since the demand of woven garments is decreasing as a result the woven dyeing factory is also decreasing day by day.
